Automatic Glass Measurement and Positioning for Mixed-Size Production
When a glass factory processes many different sizes, manual measurement and machine adjustment can become a significant part of the production cycle.
TECHWIN double edging lines can be equipped with automatic glass scanning systems to identify glass dimensions and support automatic machine positioning.

How Does Automatic Scanning Work?
A scanning system detects the actual dimensions of the glass before it enters the main processing section.
The measured information can be communicated to the machine control system.
The double edger can then automatically adjust its working position according to the detected glass dimensions.
Typical process:
Glass → Scanning → Dimension Recognition → Automatic Adjustment → Double Edging

Why Is Automatic Scanning Useful?
Automatic scanning can be particularly useful when a production line processes:
- Multiple glass sizes
- Mixed orders
- Different product dimensions
- Small batches
- High-volume customized production
Without automatic scanning, operators may need to repeatedly measure and adjust the equipment.

Combined With Servo-Controlled Edging
Automatic scanning can work together with servo-controlled grinding systems.
The scanning system provides the dimensional information.
The servo system positions the processing components.
Together, these technologies support a more automated production process.
Example: Architectural Glass Production
TECHWIN has supplied a double edging line for architectural glass with automatic scanning and positioning.
The system was designed for glass up to 2500 × 2000 mm and a production speed of up to 15 m/min.
The customer used the automated system to improve production efficiency compared with the previous CNC-based processing method.
Scanning for Jumbo Glass
Automatic scanning becomes even more valuable when processing large-format glass.
TECHWIN has developed a jumbo glass line for glass up to 6000 × 3000 mm, combining automatic recognition with double edging, washing and unloading.
Integration With the Complete Production Line
Scanning information can become part of a larger production-control system.
A typical process may be:
Cutting → Scanning → Double Edging → Drilling → Washing → Tempering → Unloading
For advanced production environments, machine information can also be connected to MES or other factory-management systems.
Is Automatic Scanning Right for Your Factory?
It is particularly worth considering if you:
- Process many different glass sizes
- Want to reduce manual adjustment
- Need higher production consistency
- Are developing an automated production line
- Want to integrate production data
